Adrian Semrau

Put simply, Adrian Semrau was one of the greatest female athletes to ever play at Midview. Her exploits on the volleyball and basketball floors were extraordinary. She earned three varsity letters in volleyball and four in hoops.

In basketball, Adrian hit the varsity floor her freshman year and never looked back. In her sophomore year, she averaged just under nine points and nine rebounds along with just under four block shots per contest in leading the Lady Middies to an 11-3 conference mark. For her efforts, she was named Honorable Mention All-Conference. In her junior season, Semrau improved to over 11 points per game, and was Midview’s team MVP, as the Lady Middies racked up 17 victories. She was also 1st Team All-Conference, and 3rd Team All-County. Her senior season at Midview was tremendous too. Semrau was the only senior on a team that went 13-1 in conference play. Adrian set a state record for block shots in a season with 136, and finished her career with a remarkable 343 rejections, another state of Ohio record. She was again Midview’s MVP, while capturing 1st Team All Conference and All-County honors, and was the Co-Player of the Year in Lorain County.

In volleyball, it was the same model of consistency and excellence. Adrian was All-Conference and All-County in both her junior and senior seasons. As a senior captain, Semrau led the team to a perfect 14-0 mark in conference action. She had 139 kills, 188 blocks, and 51 block kills. Adrian was ready for the next step, and it was on to Villanova University, where she had received a full four-year volleyball scholarship and later added a basketball scholarship.

At Villanova, Semrau earned 2nd Team All Big East honors in 2006, and appeared in two Big East Conference tournaments, in 2003 and 2005. Adrian was a two-time team captain, and when she finished as a Lady Wildcat, Semrau had racked up 1,187 kills, 85 blocks and 252 block assists.

Adrian received both her Bachelor and Master Degrees from Villanova, and still lives and works just minutes from the school.

Welcome,Adrian Semrau, into the Midview Athletic Hall of Fame
