Chad Coffman

As most football and basketball coaches will tell you, while the glamour players get all the attention and headlines, itís the guys who do the work battling it out in the trenches and down in the paint that lead to the success or failure of a team. Chad Coffman represents one of those guys whose blue collar work ethic and determined effort equated to victories for the Midview Middies.

Chad was a two-year starter in both sports for Midview. On the football squad, Chad was a tremendous two way tackle for the Middies. He was part of a Midview squad that shared a Lakeland Conference championship his junior season, and went 7-3 his senior year. Coffman, along with previous MAHOF inductee Joe Staysniak, were bookend offensive tackles for head coach Jim Bollenbacher and provided a devastating tandem. Following that senior season, Coffman was 2nd Team All Lakeland Conference, and Honorable Mention All Lorain County.

On the basketball hardwood, Coffman was a physical presence in the paint for the Middies. In his senior season, Chad averaged just shy of a double-double, scoring nearly nine points per game, while grabbing 10 rebounds per contest. That team finished up with a 14-7 mark.

With his size and dominance on the line in football clearly evident, numerous Division 1 offers were offered Coffman, and he elected to continue his career on the gridiron at Kent State University. Chad was a two-year letterman for the Golden Flashes, where he started for two seasons at offensive tackle. But Chad was not just doing the work in the trenches at Kent, he was also excelling in the classroom, as he was an Academic All-Mid American Conference recipient.

Following his playing days and college career, Chad returned to the Lorain County area, teaching and coaching at Elyria, and has since moved into various administrative positions including a time at his alma mater. Coffman is currently the principal at Parma Senior High School.

Chad and his wife Vicki are the proud parents of four children, daughters Kearsten, Kara and Justine, and a son Joey.

Welcome, Chad Coffman, into the Midview Athletic Hall of Fame
