Allen Stacey - MAHOF Class of 2005The legacy left by the Stacey family with Midview High School was provided by five brothers; Allen, the oldest, followed by Bob, Albert, Charles and Alonzo; and two sisters, Odessa and Marsha, who was the 1971 homecoming queen.

In football, Allen started as a linebacker and halfback for three years and was All Conference as a junior and senior. He was usually the fastest man on the field and frequently had runs of over 20 yards and he ranks among Midview’s all time leaders in points scored and yards gained. In a 50-16 win over Vermilion in his senior year, he scored on runs of 35, 10, 33 and 16 yards and a 67-yard pass and also scored on a conversion for a total of 31 points. He scored touchdowns on kickoff returns of 92 and 85 yards against Elyria Catholic and Amherst on successive weekends.

A starter on the 1959-60 Hall of Fame basketball team as a sophomore, Allen was outstanding as a scorer and rebounder and played solid defense. He was among the area’s leading scorers with an 18 point average and pulled down 12 rebounds per game his senior year. He also scored a career high of 32 points in a game against Clearview. He ranks among Midview’s all time leaders in points and rebounds. He excelled as a hurdler and member of the relay teams in track and was an outfielder on the baseball team. Allen Stacey was the complete package and ranks among Midview’s all time greats. Allen received a full athletic scholarship to Philander-Smith College. His college career was shortened by injuries.

Allen Stacey works as a shipping clerk for the Ford Motor Company. He lives in Elyria with his wife Jean. They have one daughter.

Welcome, Allen Stacey, into the Midview Athletic Hall of Fame
