A true legend of Cleveland sports broadcasting, Gib Shanley was the voice of the Cleveland Browns from 1961 to 1984, during some of their most successful years. A native of Shadyside, Ohio, he began doing the Browns and Ohio State games at the ripe old age of thirty. He spent eighteen years as the sports anchor for WEWS and nine years in the same capacity for WUAB. He is a member of the Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame, the Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame and recipient of both the Cleveland Association of Broadcasters Excellence Award and the NATAS Silver Circle Award. He is a four time Ohio Sportscaster of the Year Award.
Gib and his wife, Jan, reside in Strongsville. He has two sons and two daughters and six grandchildren. We are privileged to have Gib Shanley as our speaker for this evening.
